How it works

  1. Join a Google Meet callThe extension turns on Meet's captions for you and starts the transcript.
  2. Watch it fill inA small panel on the Meet page shows each line as it is spoken, with the speaker's name and the time.
  3. Copy or saveDuring the call or afterwards, copy the transcript or download it as a text file.

What you get

Speaker names

Every line is under the name of the person who said it, as Google Meet shows it.

Plain text you can use anywhere

The meeting's name, date and attendees at the top, then the conversation. It pastes cleanly into email, chat and documents.

Your past meetings

Each call is kept with its title, date, length and attendees. Open one from the toolbar icon to read, copy, save or delete it.

Sensible file names

Files are named after the meeting and its date, such as Weekly planning - 2026-10-08 10-02 - Transcript.txt.

Any language Meet captions

The transcript follows the caption language you choose in Google Meet.

Chat included

Messages typed in the meeting's chat are saved in the transcript, marked as chat.

Picks up where it left off

Rejoin a call within ten minutes and the transcript continues in the same meeting.

Stays out of the way

Move and resize the panel, or hide it with the toolbar icon. It keeps transcribing while hidden.

Private by design

Your transcripts stay in your browser. They are stored on your computer, in Chrome's storage for the extension. There is no account, and no server of ours to send anything to.

No audio or video is recorded, and no bot joins your call: the text comes from Google Meet's own captions. The extension talks to no site other than Google Meet.

Read the full privacy policy.

Tell the people you meet with. A transcript includes what other people say. Rules about recording and transcribing conversations differ from place to place; make sure you have the consent you need.

The transcript is as accurate as Google Meet's captions. Simple Transcript is not made by or affiliated with Google.
