What to include

Common questions

No transcript appears

The transcript comes from Google Meet's captions. The extension turns them on when you join; if it could not, turn captions on yourself with the CC button in Meet. If you installed or updated the extension while a Meet tab was open, reload that tab.

Where are my past meetings?

Click the extension's icon in Chrome's toolbar on any tab other than Google Meet. On a Meet tab, the icon shows or hides the panel, and the panel's Meetings link lists them.

The transcript is in the wrong language

It follows the caption language set in Google Meet. Change it in Meet's caption settings.

A meeting is called "Untitled meeting"

The call had no title in Google Meet, as with an instant meeting. Its downloaded file is named after the other attendees instead.

Can I see my meetings on another computer?

No. Meetings are stored only in the browser where the call took place; nothing is uploaded. Download the transcripts you want to keep or move.

How do I delete a meeting, or everything?

Hover over a meeting in the list and click the trash icon. Removing the extension from Chrome deletes everything it stored.

Does it record audio or add a bot to the call?

No. It reads the captions Google Meet already produces in your browser. See the privacy policy.

Sending a log

If we ask for a log, this is how to get one:

  1. On the Google Meet tab, press F12 and open the Console tab.
  2. In the levels menu at the top ("Default levels"), tick Verbose.
  3. Type MeetTranscript in the filter box, then reload the tab and repeat what went wrong.
  4. Copy the lines shown and send them by email. They can contain participants' names, so do not post them publicly.
